A Day At The Zoo With My Family is a great read for children of all ages. The story is fun and easy to follow and the illustrations depict a loving, happy family. The author did a great job showcasing that a family is a family without getting heavy into the topic of race. A charming book with a great lesson, definitely something every child should read.

I really enjoyed this story of a multiracial family going to the zoo. It's especially hard to find books that depict families like this in a natural, matter of fact way. I was bothered by the fact that many sentences don't end with periods.
A good book for young children to be able to see that having a bi-racial family is normal and is like any other loving family out there. This is a good start and I hope as this series continues it helps open up the minds of children and adults alike.
Couldn't recommend this book enough! There are far too few books for children in interracial families to relate to that just tell a story without highlighting any kind of color spectrum. The kids in this book had a great day at the zoo, with parents who just happen to look a little different, but the best part is that the difference isn't even pointed out. It's just a loving family enjoying time together at the zoo. If I could give it more stars I would! Well done Mr. Simms!
I wanted to give this a better review, since it's nice to see a more diverse family. But it didn't work well as a read-aloud. The rhymes seem too forced and the text just doesn't flow well.
What a lovely children's book. What struck me were the illustrations of this beautiful bi-racial family. The message for children of all colors is that families are families no matter their size, makeup or color. Nice job Mr. Simms. I hope this book is on every family's shelf.
